Thunder Ice Arena

The Thunder Ice Arena was completed in the summer of 2017 and is the home of the men's and women's hockey programs.

The $7.5 million, 700-seat ice arena, includes an NCAA-compliant ice rink, men’s and women’s varsity, club and visitor's lockers, concessions, a pro shop with wearables, sticks and skates for sale, a VIP lounge, weight and training rooms, and one press box. It also includes an area for skate sharpening and rental.

Trine’s women’s hockey team is the only women’s intercollegiate team in Indiana, and its men’s team joins nine others in the state.

“We are grateful for the generosity of those who continue to support the mission we have of providing a quality, well-rounded education here at Trine,” said President Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. “This new building will not only allow us the opportunity to expand our athletic programs, but more opportunities for our students and staff to stay in shape, and recreation for the community as a whole.”

Trine’s NCAA DIII men’s and women’s hockey teams compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.  Trine also sponsors two club level hockey programs with two men's teams competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association DII and DIII.

The arena also hosts youth hockey programs for the Steuben County YMCA and local school corporations. It is also open to the public for skating at designated times.
