FREELAND, Mich. -- Trine University's athletic teams finished fourth in the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Cup standings.
The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 22 sports for men and women. The final Commissioner's Cup standings are determined on the basis of each college's standings in eight of 11 sports for men and eight of 11 sports for women. Trine teams tied for third in the men's standings and placed fourth in the women's standings to finish with 97 points.
The women's basketball team captured the school's lone conference title this season. The team won its first MIAA regular season and tournament titles, capturing the tournament championship at home in Hershey Hall. The team went on to finish 25-3 and win one game in its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Trine's men's track and field team captured second-place finishes in both the indoor and outdoor conference championships to account for the school's best finishes elsewhere in the MIAA.
