ANGOLA, IND. – Trine University Athletic Director Matt Land announced the promotion of Dan Callahan to the position of Assistant Athletic Director in charge of compliance. Coinciding with the promotion Callahan will step down from his position as head coach of the Trine University wrestling program.

Callahan has served as the head coach of Thunder wrestling since the program launched in 2004. Under Callahan, the program has produced an NCAA All-American, a three-time NCAA All-American and 15 Academic All-Americans. Callahan has guided wrestlers to the NCAA Division III National Championships on six occasions. Before his time at Trine Callahan served as a head coach at the high school level for 20 years.

"I have been a coach for 35 years, I have loved and enjoyed every minute of it, but this is a way to continue to serve Trine University in a different way," Callahan said, "I am excited about that opportunity, especially since I will be leaving a program that is still in a great position to succeed."

Callahan has already served as the Compliance Coordinator for the past 10 years and will continue fulfilling those duties along with other administrative roles in his new position.

"Dan has been an important part of the Thunder athletics family for the past 15 years. We are proud to have him continue this relationship in an administrative role," said Land, "As Trine University continues our incredible growth promoting Dan to a full-time Assistant Athletic Director will ensure our student-athletes' experience is at the highest level we can provide."
