Owens Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director

ANGOLA, Ind. – O'Shea Owens has been named Assistant Athletic Director of Game Operations and Fan Experience by Assistant Vice President of Athletics Matt Land.

The newly created position is designed to oversee and improve the fan experience at all Thunder athletics events. Owens will be tasked with increasing fan involvement and attendance for Trine athletics. He will also assist with game operations.

"We are excited to have O'Shea as a part of Thunder athletics," said Land, "His work since coming to Trine has been extremely beneficial to our fan experience. I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish with being able to devote his entire focus to athletics."

Owens has spent the last two years as Director of Student Activities in Trine University's Office of Student Success and Engagement. While there he was responsible for scheduling, planning and promoting largescale events focused on student engagement. This responsibility extended to major athletic events where he worked on improving the student fan experience.

Over that time Thunder athletic event attendance has increased to national recognition. It was recently announced that the women's basketball program finished the 2018-19 season with the 14th highest attendance in NCAA Division III. Football also had a banner attendance coming in fifth in Division III, a program record.

"I would like to thank Matt Land and Dr. Brooks for the opportunity to be a part of the growing Thunder athletic department," said Owens, "I would also like to thank John Milliken for his guidance the past two years. Athletics has always been a passion of mine and I am truly excited to work in such a great athletic department."

Owens graduated from Trine University in 2017 with a degree in criminal justice. While a student he was one of the most recognizable fans on Trine campus.
