Dawson Named Senior Woman Administrator

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University Assistant Vice President for Athletics Matt Land has announced that Brandi Dawson will now serve at the department's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).

"I am proud to designate Brandi as our SWA," said Land, "Dawson has been a crucial part of Thunder Athletics for the past year as an administrator and as a student-athlete. I am excited to watch her continued growth in this new capacity."

The senior woman administrator is the highest-ranking female in each NCAA athletics department or conference office. The purpose of the SWA designation is to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of college sports. The designation was voted into existence in 1981, the same year the NCAA added women's championships.

"I am honored and excited to be named Senior Woman Administrator," said Dawson, "This is a great opportunity for me to have even more involvement with our athletic teams, the MIAA, and the NCAA. I look forward to aiding in the continued growth and success of Trine Athletics."

Dawson, a 2019 alumna of Trine, has served as an Assistant Athletic Director since June of 2021. In that position she oversees game day operations while aiding in the preparation of NCAA and MIAA reports as well as planning and operating postseason events. She is also the diversity and inclusion coordinator.

While at Trine Dawson was a standout member of the women's basketball team. She helped lead the program to three MIAA championships while leading the conference in scoring three out of four seasons. She was a three-time MIAA MVP and a two-time first-team All-American.
