NCHA Announces 2022-23 All-Academic Teams

DULUTH, Minn. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced the conference All-Academic teams. The Trine University men's hockey team had 18 student-athletes named to the honor, the second most in the NCHA. The Trine University women's hockey team saw 13 honorees, tied for third.

To qualify for the All-Academic Team, players must be sophomores, juniors or seniors and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.30.

Four members of the men's team make their third appearance on the list, all senior members of the team, including Brad Jenion, Justin Meers, Brendan Prappas and Brett Tierney. Seven other student-athletes were repeat members including juniors Jacob Berg, Beau Binnie, Jared Bowman, Shane Brancato, Jackson Clark and Thad Marcola as well as senior Brett Piper.

Seven sophomores made their first appearance in their first year eligible for the award. Matt Bielinski, Tyler Fox, Tim Organ, Bobby Price, Kyle Watson, Drew Welsch and Cristian Wong-Ramos were the first-time honorees.

On the women's side senior Makena Thompson and junior Gabrielle Hicks were the two Thunder to place on the list for the third time. Six more made their second appearance as All-Academic including senior Grace Canty, juniors Abbie Bost, Grace Hicks, Taryn Raisanen and Madison Toor, and sophomore Ellie Warhoftig.

The final five honorees were sophomores Lea Connor, Ryleigh Furlong, Payton Hans, Abby Martin and Anabelle Scriver.
