Trine Third in MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine is in third place in the MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings following the conclusion of the MIAA fall sports season.

Thunder teams have earned 41.5 points towards the school's placement in the Cup standings. Trine men's teams have earned 24.5 points, while women's teams have contributed 17 points. The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 20 sports for men and women. The final Commissioner's Cup standings are determined on the basis of each college's standings in eight of ten sports for men, and eight of ten sports for women. All eight fall sports are tabulated in the current standings.

This year marks the institution of a new Commissioner's Cup scoring formula that awards the same number of points to the MIAA champion in each sport, regardless of gender. The Commissioner's Cup (All-Sports Award) has been presented every year since 1934-35.

Trine's top finishes in the MIAA on the men's side have featured a pair of second-place finishes in the standings. The Thunder men's golf team placed second, while the football team tied for second with Albion. Leading the top women's performances were a third-place finish by the volleyball team and a fourth-place spot for golf.
