Trine Ranks Third in Commissioner's Cup Standings

FREELAND, Mich.-- Following the conclusion of the fall sports season, Trine ranks third in the MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings.

Thunder athletic teams have accumulated 42.5 points in the standings. Trine men's teams racked up 24.5 of those points to rank third in the men's standings. Thunder women's teams earned 18 points, ranking the school fifth in the conference in performance in women's sports. The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 22 sports for men and women.

Trine men's teams notched three third-place finishes to lead the fall performance of Thunder teams. The men's cross country team earned its best finish in the MIAA since 2007, while the men's golf team matched that finish and the football team tied for third in the league.

A fourth-place finish for the women's golf team and ties for fourth place by the women's cross country and volleyball teams paced the performance of Trine women's teams in the fall.

During the fall, Thunder athletic teams produced 18 all-conference selections. The football team led the way with 10 All-MIAA honorees, including five on the first team.

The final Commissioner’s Cup standings is determined on the basis of each college's standings in eight of ten sports for men and eight of ten sports for women. All eight fall sports are tabulated in these standings.
