Trine to Dedicate new Athletic Facilities Saturday

ANGOLA, Ind.-- Trine University will dedicate a pair of new athletic facilities this Saturday as part of Homecoming weekend.

Ryan Tennis Center will be dedicated at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be followed by the dedication of SportONE/Parkview Softball Field at 11 a.m. The Trine softball team will receive its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship rings as part of the dedication ceremony at the softball field.

Ryan Tennis Center is named for lead donors Cliff Ryan, a Trine University trustee and 1966 alumnus, and his wife, Sig. The facility features two new tennis courts, bringing the total to six courts, along with seating and a plaza area to allow for tournament officiating.

The new softball diamond, SportONE/Parkview Softball Field, has been named to recognize lead donors Parkview Ortho Hospital and Drs. Brett F. Gemlick and John C. Pritchard. Gemlick is an orthopedic surgeon and Pritchard is a sports medicine specialist, both are with SportONE, a division of Orthopaedics NorthEast of Fort Wayne.

The new softball complex also features a new brick press box, thanks to a commitment from Harold Chevrolet of Angola. The Ben Davis Memorial Press Box is named in honor of the late Ben Davis, who had co-owned the Chevrolet dealership.

The dedications are a part of the Trine's Homecoming celebration. For a complete list of Homecoming events, CLICK HERE.
