In the summer of 2021, Dan Callahan was promoted to Associated Athletic Director of Compliance. The change comes following three years as an assistant athletic director. Callahan has served the role of compliance officer for Trine University since the summer of 2008.

Callahan launched the Thunder wrestling program in 2004. During his 10 seasons, the Thunder have compiled a 70-100-1 record, including winning the Mid-States Conference title in 2009-2010, as well as being NCAA Midwest regional runner-up in 2009 and 2010. Callahan also has been named the Mid-State Conference Coach of the Year in 2006-2007 and 2009-2010. 

Under Callahan, the program has produced a three-time NCAA All-American and 14 Academic All-Americans. During the 2014-15 season, Callahan guided a pair of wrestlers to appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championships. Callahan has led his wrestlers to numerous national appearances and All-America honors.

Entering the 2016-17 season, his career record, including 19 years as a high school wrestling coach, is 339-216-9. Before joining Trine, Callahan coached at the high school level for 23 years, including 19 as a head wrestling coach. 

Callahan is a graduate of Rochester High School, Rochester, Ind., and Alma College, Alma, Mich. Coach Callahan resides in Fremont with his wife, Cindy, a fourth-grade teacher, and has two children, Megan and Kyle.
