ANGOLA, Ind.-- Take a look at the upcoming schedule and a brief preview of the week ahead in Trine Thunder athletics.
Wednesday
Men's Basketball: Trine at Olivet, 7 p.m.
After three-straight at home, the Thunder take on the Comets in
their first of two-consecutive road games. Trine has won
four-straight games and is tied with Calvin atop the league
standings. Olivet enters the game 3-14 overall and 1-5 in league
play.
Women's Basketball: Trine at St. Mary's, 7:30 p.m.
A four-game road trip concludes with a road trip to South Bend to
face the Belles. The Thunder are in the thick of a race for an
MIAA-playoff berth, sitting in a three-way tie for third place at
5-4 in league play. Trine defeated St. Mary's 97-66 in the first
meeting this season.
Friday
Wrestling: Trine at Pete Willson Invitational, 11
a.m.
Wrestlers from 32 schools will compete at Wheaton College, with
preliminaries and wrestlebacks opening Friday. Brandon Preston and
Mack Green each won their respective classes in their last
tournaments. Michael Conner placed third in Trine's last
tournament, while Cody Konieczki's last four wins have all come via
pin.
Track and Field: Trine hosts Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor
Classic, 5 p.m.
The Thunder teams host their second home invitational of the year
in Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center. Kara
Eck has been on a roll in throwing events for the women, breaking
school records in the Shot Put and Weight Throw multiple times
already this season. On the men's side, Jacob Leopold (800 M) and
John Daniel (Pole Vault) each set Trine indoor records last
weekend. The Thunder feature two returning All-Americans in Tyler
Bourdo (400 M) and Trisha King (800 M).
Saturday
Wrestling: Trine at Pete Willson Invitational, 11
a.m.
Any Trine wrestlers advancing to the championship rounds will look
to cement their placements on the final day of competition at
Wheaton College.
Women's Basketball: Calvin at Trine, 3 p.m.
The Thunder will host a nationally-ranked opponent for the
first-time this season. This will be Trine's third game against a
ranked foe this year.
Men's Basketball: Trine at Hope, 3 p.m.
The second half of MIAA play opens with a road trip to Holland.
The Thunder will look to kick off the final stretch of the season
on a high note. Trine defeated Hope 65-62 in the first meeting this
season.
