ANGOLA, IND.-- Take a look at the schedule and a brief preview of the week ahead in Trine Thunder Athletics.
Monday
Women's Soccer: Kalamazoo at Trine, 4:00 p.m.
The match will be the home and MIAA-opener of the season for the
Thunder. Trine enters conference play with a 2-1 record. The first
100 students in attendance at Monday's match will receive a free
vuvuzela.
Wednesday
Volleyball: Trine at St. Mary's, 7:00 p.m.
The Thunder travel to South Bend for a matchup between the
two teams that tied for third-place in the MIAA last season. Trine
enters the match 1-1 in conference play, while the Belles will
carry a 3-4 overall and 2-1 league record into Wednesday night's
action. Taylor Rabel (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) needs five kills
to become the third Thunder player to reach 700 career kills at
Trine in the Division-III era.
Thursday
Women's Soccer: Trine at Calvin, 4:00 p.m.
The Thunder will continue conference play against the
preseason-favorite and defending league-champion Knights.
Women's Tennis: Trine at Grace, 4:00 p.m.
The Thunder open the 2014 fall season after Saturday's matches at
Franklin were unable to be completed due to rain. Trine will be
beginning their first season under head coach Julianne Gould.
Friday
Men's Soccer: Defiance at Trine, 2:00 p.m. (Ketner Classic)
The Thunder host the Ketner Classic, with four teams competing in
matches on Weaver Field over the weekend. Trine opens the weekend
against Defiance, who will enter the weekend with an 0-3-1
record.
Saturday
Women's Golf: Trine at Manchester University Invitational,
9:00 a.m.
Trine is coming off a sixth-place finish in the Olivet
College Invitational this past weekend. Amy Worthington led the
Thunder, tying for ninth in the tournament. Trine placed second in
last fall's tournament at Manchester.
Women's Soccer: Hope at Trine, 12:00 p.m.
The Thunder host the Flying Dutch in their third match of the
week.
Football: Millikin at Trine, 1:00 p.m.
The Thunder host their 2014 home opener at Fred Zollner
Athletic Stadium. The Big Blue are coming off a 66-24 win over
Greenville in their season-opener. Trine will have a short week
after falling to Manchester, 29-28, Sunday afternoon. Taylor
Masiewicz (Belmont, Mich./Rockford) tied a Trine single-game record
for quarterbacks with three rushing TD's. Saturday will be the
first all-time meeting between the two schools.
Men's Golf: Trine at MIAA Jamboree- Adrian, 1:00 p.m.
Trine enters the second round of the MIAA fall schedule in
second-place overall after their performance in the opening round
at Alma. Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) earned individual
medalist honors in the first round. The Thunder will look to stay
near the top of the MIAA standings to ensure another trip to the
MIAA National Qualifier in the spring.
Men's Soccer: Manchester at Trine- 5:00 p.m.
The men's soccer team wraps up their week with a match
against Manchester to conclude the Ketner Classic.
Sunday
Women's Tennis: Rose-Hulman at Trine- 11:00 a.m.
Women's Tennis: Olivet at Trine- 4:00 p.m.
The Thunder host a pair of non-conference matches on the
Trine tennis courts. The Olivet match will not affect the
conference standings.
Men's Tennis: Trine at Indiana-East- 12:00 p.m.
The Thunder put their 1-0 record on the line at Indiana-East.
Trine had three freshman pick up their first collegiate wins in the
season-opening victory over Franklin this past Saturday.
