Thunder Have Strong Showing in Inaugural Home Event

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team turned in a strong performance in their home opener while falling to the established program from Adrian College by the score of 234.33 to 167.79.

The meet opened with the compulsory event where the Bulldogs outscored the Thunder 30.05 to 18.00. Trine turned in their best score during the toss heat where they came away with an 8.65.

Both teams moved on to the acro event and the Thunder turned in a strong performance, especially in the second heat where they outscored the opposition 7.70 to 7.25. Overall the Bulldogs came out on top again but only by a minor margin at 25.15 to 22.85.

The pyramid event saw the Thunder turn in an even closer total score falling just 26.80 to 24.30. Trine came away with another heat victory in the event's second heat where they won 8.80 to 7.90.

In the toss event, the team turned in another close performance dropping the event 25.35 to 23.85. While they didn't get a heat win they were nearly tied in two of the heats at 8.10-8.05 and 8.50-8.25.

The tumbling event saw the Bulldogs pull away a bit as the Thunder were unable to compete in all of the heats. The Thunder still turned in strong scores where they did compete. 

In the team event, Trine turned in a score of 52.64 out of 65.24, an strong improvement over their first attempt at the team event in their meet against Georgetown (Ky.) College.

The team falls to 0-2 following the loss. They will take the mats again on Sunday, March 21 when they will host a rematch with Georgetown College. The meet is set to start at 2 p.m.
