Acrobatics and Tumbling Wins Second Match in a Row

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team picked up their second win of the season with their second straight win defeating visiting Kutztown University 218.870 to 142.200.

The Thunder took the early lead in the contest winning the Compulsory Event 30.40 to 26.65. They would win the first heat with a score of 7.20 and the second heat with a 9.35. The two teams tied in the third heat both posting 8.75.

The Bears would cut into that lead during the Acro Event winning 23.25 to 21.35. Despite the loss Trine did win the second heat with a score of 8.30.

The Pyramid Event would also go to the visiting team, by a similar margin with a final score of 26.55 to 24.45. This time the Thunder would turn in a pair of slim heat victories despite the final score. They would post a score of 8.80 in the second heat and 9.35 in the third heat. The scores made the score 76.45 to 76.20 in favor Kutztown.

The Toss Event once again went in favor of the Bears who would win 24.05 to 22.25. For the first time in the match Trine would fail to win a heat despite posting a strong 8.10 in the third.

The two teams would post nearly identical scores in the Tumbling Event with the opposition securing a win by the slimmest of margins 41.70 to 41.50. The Thunder would win the trio pass, quad pass and aerial pass. Their best scores came in the open pass with an 8.20 and the aerial with a 7.975.

Trine would pull away with the victory during the Team Event when the shorthanded Bears were unable to compete. The home team would secure the final win with a 78.92 score in the event.

The Thunder improve to 2-3 following the victory. They will next take the mats when they travel to face Adrian College for a 4 p.m. dual on Saturday, April 2.
