Thunder Finish Season Sweep of Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team picked up their third victory of the season after defeating Concordia University Wisconsin by the score of the 238.685 to 234.630. It is the second time this season that the team has defeated the Falcons and the team's second win on the road.

The Thunder opened the day with a solid performance in the Compulsory Event. They posted their fourth best score in program history with a 32.15. A big part of that score was a second-best performance in the acro heat with a score of 8.60. They also posted strong scores in the pyramid heat with a 9.40 and the toss heat with an 8.60.

Trine would take a lead during the second event of the day when they outscored the home squad 25.75 to 22.35. Strong performances in the first heat with a 9.10 and the third heat with an 8.90 led the way for the win in the event.

The team made a slight addition to the lead during the Pyramid Event by outscoring the opposition 28.00 to 27.20. Trine posted the third-best performance for the program in the first heat with a 9.50 and then added solid scores in both the second and third heats with a 9.10 and 9.40 respectively. The Thunder took an 85.90 to 81.95 lead into halftime after the narrow win.

Out of halftime, the Falcons cut into the lead by taking the Toss event 26.75 to 23.55. Trine's best performance of the event came in the first heat where they turned in an 8.40, tied for third in program history.

The Thunder added back to the lead by taking the Tumbling Event by the score of 45.975 to 45.300. The team got new second-best scores in the final three passes of the event with an 8.40 in the aerial, an 8.025 in the 6 element and an 8.80 in the open.

Trine then finished off the victory with a win in the Team Event where they scored an 83.26 to Concordia Wisconsin's 80.63.

The Thunder improve to 3-2 overall following the win. They will continue their season when they host both Adrian College and Augustana (S.D.) University on Saturday, April 1. The event is set to start at 3 p.m.
