Thunder Finish Regular Season Strong

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team turned in another banner performance as they pulled away for a 247.615 to 130.375 victory against Adrian College. The total is the second best for the program.

The Thunder took an immediate lead, winning the Compulsory Event by nearly seven points with a score of 32.80 to 25. 85. Their best scores came in the pyramid heat with a 9.55 and the toss heat with a 9.40.

The team gained five more points during the Acro Event, outscoring the Bulldogs 26.30 to 21.10. It was the sixth best showing in the event in program history. The team's 9.35 performance int eh third heat was tied for the second best, while the 8.75 in the second heat was sixth best.

Trine kept building on the lead in the Pyramid Event, once again outscoring the opposition this time 27.50 to 25.65. Their best score came in the third heat with a 9.70 with the second best coming in the second heat with a 9.20. The team took an 86.60 to 72.60 lead into halftime.

Out of the intermission the Thunder didn't miss a step, winning the Toss Event with a score of 25.70 to 19.60. The total was the fifth best in program history. The best of the scores came in the first heat where they had their fifth best performance with an 8.85. They also turned in an 8.60 in the third heat.

In the penultimate event of the day, the Tumbling Event, Trine had their best ever showing, posting a score of 48.525. They had another program best in the duo pass with an 8.750 and then a third best in the trio pass with a 7.900. The 6-element pass score of 8.225 was a fifth best while the open pass score of 8.775 was a sixth best.

Trine finished off with their sixth best showing in the Team Event with an 86.79.

The Thunder improve to 5-2 following the lopsided victory. They will next compete when they travel to the Division III Invitational hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin beginning on Thursday, April 11.
