Thunder Drop Non-Conference Game at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, IND.-- The Trine baseball team fell to Indiana Tech, 9-5, in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Warriors Stadium.

The Warriors scored all of their runs in the first five innings, with the bulk of the damage being done by the top of the order. Three-hole hitter Bryan Brudi went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and five RBI's, while two-hole hitter Justin Kalusa homered and drove in two runs as part of a three-hit effort. Jordan Baer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Leo) doubled as part of a two-hit day and drove in two runs to lead Trine. Adam Sullivan (Fort Wayne, Ind./Elmhurst) drove in two runs as well. Trine falls to 12-20 overall. Indiana Tech improved to 23-19-1.

Hits by Brudi brought in the first four runs of the game for the Warriors. His two-run double in the first got IT on the board, which he followed with a two-run single in the second to make the score 4-0. He later added a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Kalusa hit a solo homer in the fourth and knocked in a run with a single in the fifth. Jacob Dunnichay and Tyler Denniston also knocked in a run apiece for Indiana Tech.

Baer got Trine on the board in the third with an RBI-double to score Sullivan. Baer later drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run in the eighth.

Sullivan knocked in a pair of runs with a single in the fourth. RJ Flowers (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton) added an RBI-single in the sixth.

Mike Seaman (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota West) added three hits for the Thunder.

Trine open a MIAA-series against Calvin this Thursday when the Thunder host the Knights at 2:00 p.m. at Jannen Field.
