DeGood Wins Robert L. Greim Award

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's Andrew DeGood, a member of the Thunder baseball team, has been named the recipient of the school's Robert L. Greim Award for outstanding male student-athlete.

The award is presented to the senior male student-athlete who best embodies the values of leadership, character, citizenship, scholarship and athletic accomplishment. DeGood (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton)  is a team captain and has been a fixture on the left side of the Thunder infield at third base. As a member of the team, DeGood helped lead the Thunder to back-to-back MIAA Tournament appearances. DeGood graduated yesterday with a degree in Sports Management and a 3.14 GPA. He has been named to the Dean's List twice.

DeGood is a member and President of the Trine chapter of Phi Kappa Theta. Outside of the university, DeGood has spent the last four years volunteering as a coach at the YMCA.

"Andrew is a very dedicated and hard-working player on and off the field," said Greg Perschke, head coach of Trine's baseball team. "His leadership and enthusiasm have been outstanding for the younger players this year. His leadership will be greatly missed."

DeGood enters the final doubleheader of his Trine career today with strong career numbers across the board. He has played in 125 games, starting 108. He is a career .263 hitter and has driven in 33 runs. DeGood has 87 hits in his Thunder career.

Single-game highlights for DeGood include three three-hit efforts. His career-high of four RBI's led Trine to a 12-4 victory over eventual MIAA-champ Adrian in 2011. The third-baseman also victimized the league-leading Bulldogs with a walk-off RBI-single in an extra-inning victory two weeks ago.

DeGood and the rest of the Trine baseball team conclude their season today with a doubleheader at Kalamazoo.
