Palmer Named MIAA Baseball Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.—Trine's Drew Palmer has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league Monday.

Palmer (Hartford, Wisc./Hartford Union) led the Thunder offense this week to open its season with a 5-3 record. The senior leads the team with a .484 batting average, 1.00 slugging percentage, .528 on base percentage 16 RBI and 15 hits. He tops the league leaderboards in RBI, homeruns, triples and slugging percentage.

In the Thunder's 16-7 win over Utica on March 14, Palmer tied the school record with seven RBI and nine total bases. He finished a double shy of a cycle. Palmer went four-for-five at the plate.

Palmer now leads the Thunder in the career record books in all-time triples with eight.

The Thunder will open its home slate on Tuesday, March 21 when it will play host to Ohio Northern for a 4 p.m. game.
