Heller Named MIAA Baseball Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.—Trine's Jacob Heller has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league Monday.

Heller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Prairie Heights) concludes the season on a 15-game hitting streak. This week the sophomore batted .588 with a grand slam and seven RBI. Heller hit two doubles and had multiple hits in three games against Albion, including four hits in the Thunder's final game of the season.

In conference action, Heller hit .449 good for second in the MIAA. Heller led the team with a .408 overall batting average and .497 on base percentage.

The Thunder wrapped up its 2017 season this weekend with a 19-18 overall record and 13-15 against the MIAA. Trine finishes in a tie for fourth place in the league and ends on a three-game win streak .
