Pfafman Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Baseball Coach

ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University Athletic Department has announced that Assistant Baseball Coach Nick Pfafman has been promoted to a full-time assistant position with the Thunder coaching staff.  Pfafman served as a part-time assistant during the 2018 season.

The 2018 season also marked Pfafman's second term with the Thunder as an assistant.  He previously aided the coaching staff during the 2007-11 seasons.  During his time away from Trine, Pfafman was the Head Baseball Coach at Prairie Heights High School in LaGrange, Ind.

At Trine, Pfafman will continue to work with the hitters, infielders and with recruiting.  In his first season back with the team as coach, the Thunder batted .303 at the plate as a squad and was third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in hits with 386 (386-of-1276).

Pfafman is a 2007 graduate of Trine and earned a degree in social sciences with a minor in history.  In addition, he was a member of the baseball team and played two seasons (2005-06) for current Head Coach Greg Perschke.  In 2006, Pfafman earned All-MIAA honors as a first baseman after batting .294 (30-of-102) with 12 runs batted in, five runs scored, a double and was walked 15 times.  On defense, he ended his senior campaign with a .978 fielding percentage with 246 putouts, 16 assists and committed just six errors in 38 games.

Pfafman currently resides in Hudson, Ind. with his wife, Kayla, along with their daughter, Parker, and son, Briggs.
