ACHA D2 Hockey Defeats Visiting Adrian

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University ACHA D2 men's hockey team defeated visiting Adrian College by the score of 4-2.

Both teams finished the first period without a goal. The Bulldogs finally started off the scoring with 12 minutes left in the second period with an unassisted goal.

The Thunder responded just a few minutes later when sophomore defender Josh Hinderliter (Wyandotte, Mich.) fired a shot from the point for the goal. Freshman Dakota Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) and senior Braeden Pearl (Vankleek Hill, Ontario) recorded assists on the goal.

Trine added to their lead with just over two minutes left in the period when Davis put back a rebound off a save of Pearl's shot. Sophomore Niccolo Mombelli (Solothurn, Switzerland) also added an assist on the goal.

Just over a minute later sophomore Spencer Johnson (Novi, Mich.) poked away the puck from an attacking Adrian player. Sophomore Brandon Bornkamp (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was there to scoop it up. He would go the entire length of the ice and score the goal to give the Thunder a 3-1 lead.
