ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University ACHA D2 men's hockey team finished off a weekend sweep of Oakland University today with an 8-2 victory at home following an 8-0 win yesterday on the road.

On Friday, two Thunder led the way with two goals apiece as the team cruised to an 8-0 victory. Sophomore Brandon Bornkamp (Fort Wayne, Ind.) opened the scoring for Trine with a goal just 36 seconds into the contest, adding another in the ninth minute. But the real offensive leader for the team was junior Tanner Bennett (Columbus, Ind.) who finished with two goals and three assists to lead the team with five points.

On Saturday, seven different members of Trine scored as the team once again came away with a lopsided victory, 8-2. Junior Joe Laskero (Orland Park, Ill.) was the lone member of the team to score multiple goals in the contest, coming away with the first and last goals of the contest. Bennett, who added his third goal of the weekend in the contest, was joined by Sean Schirripa (Bethlehem, Pa.), Jayson Dimizio (Goleta, Calif.), Braeden Pearl (Vankleek Hill, Ontario), Brendon Werstine (Lakewood, Calif.) and Jake Hatten (Granger, Ind.) in scoring a goal in the contest.
