ANGOLA, Ind. -- Sophomore Brandon Bornkamp (Fort Wayne) tallied a hat-trick as the Trine University ACHA D2 hockey team rolled past visiting Davenport University by the score of 9-4.
The Thunder started the contest with two straight goals and the ended the period with a 3-2 lead. In the second, they built their lead to 7-4 and then added two more in the third to take the 9-4 victory.
Bornkamp went on an offensive explosion in the contest finishing the game with three goals and four assists for a staggering seven points.
In goal, freshman James Fry (Columbus, Ind.) finished the contest with 28 saves while allowing the four goals.
Trine improves to 16-6 following the victory. They will face off with Davenport again tomorrow, Jan. 26, on the road at 2:50 p.m.
