ACHA D2 Hockey Defeats Visiting Bearcats

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's ACHA D2 hockey team came out on top of visiting the University of Cincinnati by the score of 9-6.

The Thunder came up with the first goal of the contest. Sophomore Dakota Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) tallied the goal the first of three he would score in the contest.

The Bearcats responded with their own goal ten minutes later to tie the contest. Davis would tally his second of the night to give Trine the lead again heading into the first intermission.

The offenses went on rolls in the second period as both teams came away with three goals to enter the second intermission with a 5-4 score in favor of Trine.

Cincinnati would tie the contest at six during the third period but the Thunder pulled away with the three final goals of the contest to win 9-6.

Davis led the way offensively with his three goals. Two other Trine skaters would come away with two goals including senior Dante Suffredini (Washington Township, Mich.) and freshman Dillon Fox (Greenville, Wis.).

The Thunder improve to 15-12-1 following the victory. They will travel to face Grand Valley State University in their next contest. The game is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
