ACHA D3 Win Big in Season Opener

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine ACHA D3 men's hockey team started the season with a 22-2 win over Western Michigan University.

The Thunder scored early and scored often on the way to the decisive victory. The first goal of the game was scored in just the third minute by forward Cameron Bopp with assists by fellow forwards Adam Bedford and Nick Anderson.

Anderson would finish the game with four assists and two goals. Two Thunder would finish with hat tricks in the game, forward Jacob Ruelle and defender Tyler Groth, both of them also added an assist.

The biggest star of the game for the Thunder, however, was forward Howard Rose, who finished the game with a whopping five goals and three assists.

Trine next takes the ice Friday, Sept. 29, when they travel to face Purdue University with puck drop scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
