Trine Falls 5-3

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine ACHA D3 men's hockey team came up short against regionally-ranked Adrian College by the score of 5-3.

The Thunder fell behind early in the game and was never able to overcome the deficit throughout the game. The Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the contest all in the first 16 minutes of the first period.

With three minutes left before the first intermission freshman forward, Jacob Ruelle (Niles, Mich.) put Trine on the board. It was his eighth goal of the season. Freshmen defenders Ryan Dumond (Woodstock, Ga.) and A.J. Crawford (Granger, Ind.) both tallied assists on the goal.

In the second, the two teams would trade unassisted goals and the score was 4-2 at the end of the period. The Thunder's goal was scored by freshman forward Adam Bedford (Hawthorne, Calif.).

Trine's final goal came on the power play as Ruelle took advantage of the man advantage caused by his brother's, Jordan Ruelle of Adrain College, penalty. The Thunder would pull their goaltender in favor of an extra attacker in the final minutes of the game but were unable to pull off the comeback losing by the final score of 5-3.

Trine will next compete when Xavier University comes to Angola for a 9:30 p.m. contest on Friday, Dec. 1.
