ACHA D3 Finish in Stalemate with Xavier

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine men's ACHA D3 hockey team ended their night in a tie with Xavier University with both teams finishing with four goals.

The Musketeers would score first just over a minute into the game to start with a 1-0 lead. The Thunder would respond with a roll of their own goals, scoring three in the first and allowing only one more from Xavier to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

The first Trine goal was scored by freshman forward Jalan Armstrong (Trafalgar, Ind.), with junior forward Marc Musselman (Kendalville, Ind.) adding the assist. Junior forward Trenton Mulnix (Leslie, Mich.) would add his eighth goal of the season with five minutes left in the period. Defenders freshman A.J. Crawford (Granger, Ind.) and junior Olli Jansson (Oulu, Finland) would record the assists on the goal. With just seconds left in the period freshman forward, Michael Wiggins (Peoria, Ariz.) would steal the puck in the offensive end and score the unassisted goal for the for the Thunder's third goal of the contest.

The second period would see the two trade goals and head into the second intermission with Trine leading 4-3. The Thunder goal was scored by freshman forward Adam Bedford (Hawthorne, Calif.), his eighth of the season. Both freshman forward Jacob Yehle (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and freshman defender Nolan Arbuckle (Wilmington, Mass.) would record assists on the goal.

The lone goal of the third stanza would come in just the second minute for the Musketeers. Both teams would buckle down defensively and hold the tie through the rest of regulation and overtime, with the game ending with a score of 4-4.

The Thunder will next take the ice on Tuesday, Dec. 5 when they face off with IPFW in a home contest starting at 8 p.m.
