ANGOLA, IND. – The Trine men's ACHA D3 hockey team defeated visiting Western Michigan University by the score of 7-3. The Thunder built a six goal lead through the first two periods before allowing three goals in the second half of the game.
Two Trine skaters finished the game with a team-high three points. Freshman forward Jacob Yehle (Fort Wayne, Ind.) scored the hat-trick in the game, while junior blue-liner Joe Defay (St. Joseph, Mich.) recorded a team-high three assists.
Junior Daniel Klaybor (South Bend, Ind.) started and finished the game for the Thunder in net. He recorded 37 saves.
Trine will be home again on Saturday, February 3, when they face off with Michigan State University. The game, which follows a trip to Lansing on Friday, is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
