ACHA D3 Team Sends Four to All-Star Showcase

ANGOLA, IND. – The Trine University ACHA D3 men's hockey team will send four of its best to play for the Indiana Collegiate Hockey Conference (ICHC) All-Star team as they compete in the 2018 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) All-Star Showcase.

This is the first time the ICHC has been invited to send a team. In addition to choosing players from the current conference members, the team will also include members from teams joining the conference next season, including the Miami (Ohio) University and the Thunder.

Four players will join the team from Trine including forwards Jacob Ruelle (Niles, Mich.) and Trenton Mulnix (Leslie, Mich.) and defensemen Tyler Groth (South Lyon, Mich.) and A.J. Crawford (Granger, Ind.).

Ruelle, a freshman, led the team with 48 points and 29 assists during Trine's inaugural season. He also added 19 goals which was second most on the team. Mulnix, a junior, added a touch of experience to the young team in addition to the third most points with 34 on the season. He was second on the team with 18 assists and third with 16 goals.

Freshmen Groth and Crawford added a valuable contribution on the defensive side of the ice. Groth tallied 23 points including seven goals and 16 assists in addition to his defensive help. Crawford added ten points of his own.

The showcase is held in the Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, Pa. from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15. Each conference in ACHA D3 hockey will send a team to the showcase. While there, 20 of the players will be selected to represent the ACHA on a trip through Europe.
