SOUTHFIELDS, N.Y. - On the eve of the 2013 Trine University football season, two more Thunder players were named preseason All-American as seniors Andrew Webster (Fort Wayne, Ind./North Side) and Tyler Keck (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) were recognized by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL). Trine was the only MIAA school to have multiple players selected to the list, while the other six conference schools combined for just two honorable mention honors (Adrian and Hope).
Webster, who was previously named to two other preseason lists, was named to the South Offense First Team. The left guard was the only player from the MIAA to be named to the first or second team. Webster is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he anchored the Thunder offensive line starting all 10 games at left tackle. Webster was on the field for 544 plays while finishing with 96 knockdowns and allowing just two sacks on the year en-route to being named to the All-MIAA First Team.
Keck also earned his third preseason All-American nod as he was named an Honorable Mention kicker. Keck finished off his junior season tied for 38th in the nation in field goals per game and leading the conference in scoring with 6.0 points per game. Keck also connected on 33-of-34 point after attempts and was named an All-MIAA First Team selection.
Trine's season will kick off tonight at 7:30 p.m. as the Thunder travel to Manchester University. The game marks the first NCAA Division III football game of the season.
