Sprague Racks Up Second All-America Honor

NEW YORK, N.Y-- Trine offensive lineman Taylor Sprague has been selected to The Associated Press Little All-America team, which honors the top players in Division II, Division III and NAIA.

Sprague (Lowell, Mich.) earned second-team honors to add to his collection of postseason accolades. The senior had previously been named an AFCA All-American and First-Team All-MIAA. He started every game at left tackle for Trine the last two seasons. This past season, he graded out positively on 92 percent of the 704 snaps he played and totaled 162 knockdowns. In 318 pass attempts, Sprague allowed just six pressures and one sack. Trine allowed the fewest sacks in the MIAA this season, thanks in large part to Sprague's efforts.

"Taylor has been a key player on our offensive line the past two seasons," said Trine head coach Matt Land. "He was truly a dominant force this year and a great leader for the entire team. Taylor's high motor and commitment to excellence on and off the field are everything we look for in a student-athlete here at Trine."

Sprague recently competed in the D-III Senior Classic, a showcase for the top Division III talent in the nation. The Classic gave Sprague an opportunity to compete against some of the nation's top talent at the Division III level and perform in front of NFL Scouts.

The Thunder finished the season 4-6 overall. Since joining Division III and the MIAA in 2004, Trine has won three conference titles and made two NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances in three trips to the NCAA Playoffs.

Trine University is a member of the nation's oldest athletic conference, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Located in Angola, Ind., Trine University is home to over 600 student-athletes that compete in 21 varsity sports.
