Wolf Named Academic All-District

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's Aaron Wolf has been recognized on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District® Football Teams, which were released Thursday.

Wolf (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) was named First-Team Academic All-District 7, which encompasses schools in the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. The Capital One Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® football honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Wolf has excelled in the classroom during his time at Trine, posting a 4.00 GPA as an Accounting major. He is one of just two student-athletes on the Division III District 7 team to have a perfect GPA on a 4.0 scale.

This season, Wolf ranks sixth in the MIAA with six sacks. The senior has 47 tackles, including 7.5 for loss, to go along with a fumble recovery, a pass break-up and a blocked extra-point this season. Wolf's 14.5 career sacks are tied for fourth in school-history. His career numbers also include 153 tackles and 23.5 tackles-for-loss.

Wolf's work as part of the defensive line has helped the Thunder rank second in the MIAA in rushing yards allowed per game, and second in sacks.

Trine carries a 4-0 MIAA and 6-2 overall mark into Saturday's contest at Hope. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Flying Dutchmen carry a 5-3 overall record and 2-2 conference mark into Saturday's action.

As the only unbeaten remaining in league play, Trine controls their own destiny in the race for the MIAA Championship and an automatic-bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

The Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes representing eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
