Carswell Voted HERO Sports "HERO of the Week"

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine's Lamar Carswell has been voted the HERO Sports D3 Football Offensive "HERO of the Week," the organization announced today.

Carswell (Toledo, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) earned 64 percent of the fan vote to receive the honor. Carswell earned the nomination for his 322-yard, three-touchdown performance in last Saturday's 62-19 victory over Concordia (Ill.) on Homecoming. The effort was the most rushing yards by a single player in a game in all of NCAA Division III this season.

HERO Sports' "HERO of the Week" honor recognizes the top single-game performances of the week in Division III football. The winner of the award is determined by fan vote.

In addition to receiving honors from HERO Sports, Carswell was recognized on D3football.com's Team of the Week.

Carswell enters tomorrow's contest ranked first in the nation in rushing yards with 772. Carswell also leads the nation with averages of 193 yards per game and 10.89 yards per carry. He also ranks third in the nation with nine rushing TDs, sixth in scoring (14 points per game) and seventh in all-purpose yards per game (205).

Trine carries a 3-1 record into Saturday's MIAA-opener on the home turf of Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium. Kickoff between the Thunder and Albion is set for 1 p.m. The Britons enter Saturday's contest 0-4.

The team will be dedicating the Jason A. Stechschulte Football All-American Room in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium prior to the game.
