Miles Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine's Me'Leick Miles has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the organization announced this morning.

Miles (Indianapolis, Ind. / Pike) played an instrumental role in helping the Thunder hold Albion to its fewest yards since 2013 in a 35-16 Trine victory Saturday. The junior totaled a career-high five tackles-for-loss and career-best three sacks as part of a nine-tackle performance. His stops behind the line of scrimmage resulted in 33 yards of loss for the Britons. Miles is being recognized by D3football.com for the first time in his career.

The D3football.com recognition is Miles' second honor of the week after he was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. The D3football.com Team of the Week recognizes the top performances from NCAA Division III on a weekly basis. Players are nominated for consideration by sports information directors. The organization began selecting a Team of the Week in 1999.

Miles is enjoying the best season of his career after earning All-MIAA Second Team honors last year. He has already set career-highs with 12 tackles-for-loss and five sacks. Miles is averaging 2.4 tackles-for-loss per game, the third-best rate in the nation. He leads the MIAA in that category.

In addition to his work on defense, Miles has been a key contributor on special teams. Earlier this season, Miles blocked a punt and returned it for his first career touchdown in a 55-27 victory at Aurora. The block was the sixth blocked kick of his career. Miles set a school-record with five blocked kicks last season.

Trine travels to Kalamazoo Saturday, Oct. 15 for a MIAA tilt. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Thunder carries a 4-1 overall and 1-0 conference mark into Saturday's action, while the Hornets enter 2-3 overall and 0-2 in MIAA play.
