Fischbach Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. -- Trine's Ty Fischbach has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Fischbach (Oxford, Ind. / Benton Central) had a career day receiving in Saturday's 42-17 victory over Kalamazoo. The senior set career-highs with seven receptions for 130 yards. He hauled in touchdown passes of 30 and 22-yards for the first two-touchdown effort of his career. Fischbach is being honored as MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Over the past three weeks, Fischbach has stepped into a lead role in the Thunder offense. He has hauled in 19 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns over that span. Fischbach leads the team in receptions and receiving yards and is tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns during that time frame. 

Fischbach has set career highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns this season. He has caught 39 passes for 567 yards in his career, an average of 14.7 yards per catch. Fischbach has caught four career touchdown passes.

Trine's victory over Kalamazoo Saturday extended its winning-streak to four games. The Thunder own one of two unblemished records in conference play, holding a 2-0 conference mark. Trine is tied with Olivet for first place in the conference.

The 5-1 Thunder continue MIAA play Saturday, Oct. 22 with a road matchup at Hope. The Flying Dutchmen enter Saturday's contest 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
