Scott, James to Participate in All-Star Game in Mexico

GRANBURY, Texas -- Trine's Taylor James and Derek Scott have been selected to travel to Mexico to participate in the eighth annual Tazón De Estrellas from December 10-18.

James (LaPorte, Ind. / LaPorte) and Scott (Niles, Mich. / Niles) represent part of a Team Stars & Stripes roster made up of 54 college seniors from 22 NCAA Division III football teams. The annual event gives student-athletes from the U.S. an opportunity to travel internationally and enjoy a cultural exchange, then to compete against their Mexican counterparts on the football field The team will battle the host CONADEIP All-Stars at Zorros Stadium at CETYS University in Mexicali on Saturday, Dec. 17. 

James and Scott will arrive in Mexico on Sunday, Dec. 11. In addition to spending the week implementing their game plan during daily practice sessions at CETYS University, the duo will be part of a community service project with local youth and will enjoy a visit to San Felipe Beach in Baja.

James earned All-MIAA honors in all three seasons of his Thunder career. The senior was recognized with second team honors this season after finishing 11th in the conference with 75 tackles. James finished his career with 228 tackles, 12th in team history.

Scott concluded his career with a second consecutive All-MIAA campaign. Scott anchored the interior of an offensive line that produced a school record 243.2 rushing yards per game. He spent time at guard and center over the course of his two all-conference seasons.

Trine concluded the season with a 6-4 overall record. The Thunder placed fourth in the MIAA with a 3-3 record in conference play.
