Wyse Garners MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University senior quarterback Evan Wyse (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) was recognized for his performance in the win against Bluffton University this past weekend by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association by being selected as this week's MIAA "Offensive Player of the Week."

Wyse helped lead the Thunder to a 55-14 victory against Bluffton in which the offense totaled 505 yards, including 359 yards on the ground which ranked as the third most in a game in program history.  He recorded career-highs in nearly every statistical category inlcuding:  completions (nine), pass attempts (15), passing touchdowns (four), all-purpose yards (120) and total offense (244 yards).  In addition, he also recorded a career-high on the ground leading the team with 120 rushing yards (10.9 yards per carry) to go along with a TD.

For the season, Wyse has completed 18-of-30 passes (60.0 percent) for 257 yards and has a team, and league-leading, six touchdown passes.  He is averaging 128.5 yards through the air per game and 14.3 yards per completion.  In addition, Wyse is the team's second-leading rusher with 157 yards (7.8 yards per carry) and one touchdown.  He is currently averaging 78.0 rushing yards per game.

Wyse and the Thunder will look to improve to 3-0 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, Sept. 16 in a non-conference matchup at Zollner Athletic Stadium.  The game will be part of Homecoming activities on campus with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
