Wyse Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University senior football player Evan Wyse (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) has been recognized not only for his accomplishments on the playing field this season, but also the classroom as a first-team Academic All-District VII selection as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Wyse maintains a 3.62 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major and is now eligible for Academic All-American status which will be voted on later this month. 

Wyse has played a crucial role this season in helping the Thunder post their third undefeated season (10-0) and claim their fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship.  As a passer, Wyse has completed 69-of-118 passes (58.5 percent) for 1,401 yards and 17 touchdowns.  On the ground, he is the second-leading rusher with 905 yards on 116 carries (7.8 yards per carry) and has scored 11 TD.  He has recorded six games so far this year with 100 yards or more.  Wyse has accounted for 2,306 yards of offense this season to lead the team and averages 230.6 total yards per game.

Wyse tied for the league-lead during the regular season in passing touchdowns (17) and ranked sixth in rushing (905 yards).

He is currently on pace to set single-season records for pass efficiency (200.7) and average yards per pass (11.9).

For his career, Wyse has thrown for 1,704 yards on 95-of-172 passing (55.2 percent) with 17 total TD tosses and only six interceptions.  He has also rushed for 1,551 yards in 213 attempts (7.3 yards per carry) and scored 20 times.  Wyse is currently the program's all-time leader in pass efficiency (164.1) and average yards per pass completion (9.9) and ranks in the top-10 all-time in several other statistical categories.

Wyse and the Thunder will make their fourth appearance in the NCAA postseason this weekend when they host Monmouth (Ill.) College in the first round tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 18) at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.  The game is scheduled to begin at noon.
