Carswell Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

FREELAND, MICH.  --  For the third time this season, and back-to-back weeks, senior Trine University football player Lamar Carswell (Toledo, Mich./St. Francis de Sales) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive "Player of the Week."

Carswell continued to set records in a 48-18 win against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College in the regular-season and MIAA finale.  Carswell rushed for a Trine, and MIAA, single-game record 359 yards on 25 carries (14.4 yards per carry) and found the endzone four times with runs of 23, two, 54 and 77 yards.  He also set the Trine single-season rushing record with his effort against Kalamazoo and now has 2,184 yards for the year.

With the win, Trine recorded its second-straight undefeated regular season (10-0) and claimed back-to-back outright MIAA Championships.

The Thunder will make its fifth overall appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament and will host St. Norbert (Wis.) College on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.  Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
