Hibbets Named MIAA Football Special Teams "Player of the Week"

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University junior kicker Ryan Hibbets (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Special Teams "Player of the Week."

Hibbets kicked a 53-yard field goal in Trine's 58-0 win against Finlandia (Mich.) University this past weekend that helped the Thunder snap a three-game winless streak.  Primarily the team's kicker on kickoffs, the 53 yarder broke his own single-game school record of 51 yards that he recorded in the 2019 season opener against Manchester University.

The successful field goal also tied the MIAA single-game record that was originally set in 1940.

With his two 50-yard field goals so far this season, Hibbets now has a career mark of six total field goals of 40 or more yards.

Trine will play its next two contests on the road, beginning with a MIAA game against Albion (Mich.) College on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Albion, Mich.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
