Strengthen Your Team: Get Vaccinated

Strengthen Your Team: Get Vaccinated

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The NCAA has just announced its recommendations for fall sports, and because we want the football season to roll out at as safely and smoothly as possible, we are issuing the following policies and procedures:

All non-vaccinated players are required to:

  • Bring proof of a negative test dated between August 5 and August 9
  • Arrive at MTI Center on move-in day (August 10) by 9 a.m.; no one will be allowed to continue move-in day registration without test verification from MTI staff

All vaccinated players:

  • Will report to MTI Center prior to 9 a.m. and will be tested; no one will be allowed to continue move-in day registration without test verification from MTI staff
    • Vaccinated players are NOT required to bring an additional test, however, you must demonstrate proof of vaccination by bringing and presenting your vaccination card when you arrive, or by uploading your vax record to the portal prior upon arrival on campus.
    • We will test all vaccinated players on move-in day to ensure we begin camp with a clean pool of athletes.

New players:

  • Are required to download and install the Navica app on their cell phones prior to move-in day
    • Use the Trine University address as your "home" in this app
      • 1 University Avenue, Angola IN 46703

It is important to point out that vaccinated players will not be required to test (after that first required test on move-in day) as pointed out above, while non-vaccinated players will be tested 3 times a week.  This is one more reason why we strongly encourage all athletes to be vaccinated – it will make for a smoother fall.  As President Brooks said in his email to you earlier this week, "Getting the vaccine is the most important thing you can do to protect yourself and our campus community, and is even more critical for student-athletes."

Stay tuned for more and new information as this may be a quickly changing environment.  Remember, It is your responsibility to check your trine email often (new students need to check the email used during the recruiting process as well) for updates to policies, procedures, and Navica app prompts and maintenance.

Please, be the best teammate you can be and arrive on campus ready to compete!
