Dean Named MIAA Athlete of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. -- Senior Aaron Dean (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Eastside) has been selected this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week following his performance against Alma College on Saturday, Nov. 6.

This is the first time that Dean has taken home athlete of the week honors during his career. This is the fifth time this season that a Thunder football student-athlete has been selected as an athlete of the week.

Dean made a splash on special teams when he returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown shutting down the Scots' hope of a comeback by giving the Thunder a 34-10 lead in the third quarter. Earlier in the game Dean had ended an Alma drive by picking up the team's first interception of the game.

Trine defeated the Scots 37-23, improving to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in MIAA play. They will host Hope College on Saturday, Nov. 13 for a 1 p.m. contest. The winner of the game, which will serve as senior day for the Thunder, will clinch at least a share of the MIAA Title.
