Amison Named MIAA Athlete of the Week

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- Senior defensive back Keysean Amison of the Trine University football team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week following a high impact game against the visiting Flying Dutch of Hope College.

This is the third time this season a Thunder student-athlete has taken home football Athlete of the Week honors and the first time in his career for Amison.

The senior was a force to be reckoned with for the Trine squad, accounting for nearly a fourth of the team's total tackles in the contest. He recorded 19 total tackles, with seven coming solo, while the team as a whole finshed with 86. It is tied for the third highest single game total in the program's NCAA Division III history and tied for fifth overall.

The Thunder fell short in the contest, dropping their final home game of the season 28-21, despite a valiant comeback attempt in the second half.

They will finish their season by traveling to face Kalamazoo College this upcoming Saturday, November 12. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
