David Perkins joined the Trine coaching staff in the summer of 2015 and serves as an offensive assistant. He began coaching tight ends prior to the 2016 season.

Perkins spent the last three seasons at St. Francis de Sales in Toledo, where he coached with current Trine quarterbacks coach Chris Hedden. Perkins helped coach the Knights to a playoff berth in 2013.

A four-year starter at Toledo, Perkins helped lead the Rockets to a MAC Championship in 2004 and back-to-back bowl appearances in 2004-05. Perkins was part of an offensive line on one of the top offenses in the nation during that time. He played in 46 games in his collegiate career.

Perkins graduated from Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a minor in business.
