Cold-Shooting Thunder Fall to Albion

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's men's basketball team was defeated by Albion, 51-41, in MIAA-action Wednesday night at Hershey Hall.

The Britons controlled the paint, outscoring Trine 30-14. A suffocating effort by Albion defensively held Trine to 32 percent shooting (16-of-50). The Britons outrebounded Trine 39-24. Leading the way for Albion was Jordan Herron, who scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Will Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind./Zionsville) paced Trine with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting. With the victory, Albion picks up the no. 3 seed in the MIAA Tournament and will face Calvin in the semifinals. The Britons are 14-10 overall and 8-5 in the conference. Trine falls to fourth in the league at 14-10 overall, 7-6 in league play. The Thunder will face Hope in the MIAA Tournament semifinals.

Dustin Hall (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) filled the stat sheet with seven points, five rebounds and three assists. The Thunder hit just 3-of-22 attempts from three-point range (14 percent) and shot 43 percent from the free throw line (6-of-14).

Eric Evans came off the bench to score 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting for Albion. The Britons shot 44 percent from the field (19-of-43). Paced by Evans, the Albion bench outscored their Trine counterparts 18-9.

After taking their first lead at 3-2 with 17:02 remaining in the first half, Albion would not trail the rest of the contest. The Britons would go on to lead by as much as 17 in the second half.

Trine closes out its regular season at Olivet this Saturday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
