CLEVELAND, OHIO-- Trine was unable to keep pace with a hot-shooting Case Western Reserve team, falling 80-73 to the Spartans in the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament Championship Tuesday evening. 

Case shot 56 percent from the field (27-of-48) in reaching their season-average in scoring. Four Spartans scored in double-figures, and six players scored eight or more points. Dane McLoughlin led the way with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including a 4-of-6 effort from long distance. Will Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind./Zionsville) led Trine with 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting.  Jared Holmquist (Reed City, Mich./Reed City) notched a double-double, scoring a career-high 29 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Trine fell to 6-4 on the season. Case Western improved to 8-2.

Dixon's effort marked the third time the sophomore has topped 30 points in a game this season, and the fourth such effort of his career. Holmquist's double-double was the eighth of his career. The junior was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 27 points and 7.5 rebounds the last two games. He shot 76 percent from the field (22-of-29) in the tournament.

David Black came off the bench to score 15 points and notch seven rebounds for the Spartans. Brian Klements and Jimmy Holman each added 10 points. Case held a 32-20 edge in the paint, and the Spartan bench outscored their Thunder counterparts by a 34-3 margin.

Case hit 9-of-18 (50 percent) from three-point range, and connected on 81 percent (17-of-21) of their free throw attempts. Trine shot 40 percent from the field (26-of-64) and committed just five turnovers.

Trine returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 3 when they host Ohio Northern. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
