Community Day Set for Saturday

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University welcomes the community to attend Hoopla Community Day set to take place this Saturday, Feb. 21, at Hershey Hall on the university's main campus.

Community Day events will feature a basketball doubleheader featuring the Thunder men hosting Olivet at 1 p.m. followed by the Thunder women hosting Hope at 3 p.m. Admission to both games is free for all fans. Free T-shirts will be available to the first 300 adults and 200 youths in attendance, with special events and giveaways continuing throughout both games. Doors for the event open at noon.

Community Day also includes the Hoops and Wings alumni event. Alumni will have the opportunity to gather in the west gym of Hershey Hall for hot wings provided by Buffalo Wild Wings, as well as other refreshments.

Visiting track and field alumni will also have the opportunity to participate in the Jon and Carol Liechty Alumni Invitational. More information can be found HERE.

Fans will have the opportunity to see both Trine basketball teams that are in the thick of the MIAA playoff race. The Thunder men enter the week looking to wrap up a home game and the no. 2 seed in the MIAA Tournament. The Trine women hold a one-game lead over Olivet for the fourth and final spot in the conference tournament.

Angola basketball teams will be recognized during the festivities.

Halftime entertainment will be provided by Trine University's Greek Life. The halftime of each game will feature a game of dodgeball between campus Greek organizations.

Between games, free hot dogs will be served for 200 guests on a first-come, first-serve basis.

After the women's game, fans will have the chance to win at least $100 in Storm's half-court shot competition. Shot attempts will continue until there is a winner.

Additional giveaways include gift cards for Depot Mexican Grill.
