Three Thunder Earn All-MIAA Recognition

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Jared Holmquist, Will Dixon and Tyler Good were named to the 2015 All-MIAA men's basketball team, released Tuesday.

Holmquist (Reed City, Mich./Reed City) and Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind./Zionsville) each earned their first all-conference selections on the All-MIAA First Team. Holmquist was the MIAA's scoring leader in conference games. Good (Swanton, Ohio/Evergreen) received All-MIAA Second Team honors for his second-consecutive all-league selection. The trio led the Thunder to its best season as a member of NCAA Division III, as the team finished 17-9 overall. Trine tied for second in the MIAA with a 10-4 league mark.

Holmquist's 18.4 points per game led the MIAA in conference games, while his 7.4 rebounds per contest ranked second in league action. He is one of two players in team history to win the MIAA scoring title, joining Ian Jackson's 2012-13 campaign. Overall, the junior averaged 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 51.6 percent from the field.

A pair of double-doubles paced Holmquist to the MIAA Player of the Week award for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 4. Highlighting the week was a 29-point, 10-rebound effort against Case Western Reserve. Holmquist notched five double-doubles this season.He was also a big part of the team's defensive efforts, averaging 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest.

Dixon led the Thunder in scoring in all games, averaging 17.5 points per contest- a mark that ranked second in the conference. He was second only to Holmquist in scoring in conference play, averaging 16.3 points in league games. The sophomore swiped 42 steals (1.6 per contest) to lead all MIAA performers on the season.

An explosive scorer, Dixon topped the 30-point mark in a game three times this season. Included among those was a 32-point effort in a victory over no. 6 Ohio Wesleyan. He was named MIAA Player of the Week twice this season.

Good capped off his Trine career with another solid season, averaging 12.5 points per contest- a mark that ranked ninth in the conference for all games. The senior wing got to the free throw line with regularity, averaging 4.5 free throws per contest while knocking down 85.3 percent of his attempts.

Good earned MIAA Player of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 24-30 after averaging 22.7 points in three wins. Highlighting the week was a 28-point effort in a victory over Franklin. Good later scored a career-high 29 points in a key conference victory over Alma.
