Dixon earns Second Player of the Week Honors

FREELAND, Mich.-- For the second time this season, Trine's Will Dixon has been named the MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind./Zionsville) averaged 24.5 points per game in leading the Thunder to two wins in the inaugural St. Andrews Products Classic this past weekend. The junior scored 30 points and hit his first seven field goal attempts in Saturday's 51-45 victory over Millikin. The performance marked the sixth time he has topped 30 points in a game in his career. He followed that up by reaching the 1,000-career point milestone with a 19-point performance in Sunday's victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh. This is the fourth time Dixon has earned MIAA Player of the Week honors in his career.

Dixon became the sixth player at Trine in the Division III era (2004-present) to reach the 1,000 career point plateau. He currently ranks second in team history in scoring average during that time span, averaging 16.4 points per game. This season, Dixon ranks fifth in the MIAA in averaging 17.6 points per game.

During his time at Trine, Dixon has been more than just a contributor on the offensive end. He is averaging 1.6 steals per game in his career and has ranked among the MIAA leaders in that category in each of his first two seasons. This year, Dixon is third in the conference in steals.

With the Player of the Week honor, Trine has now combined to win four of the first five conference player of the week awards this season.

The Thunder enter the Holiday break 8-1 overall having just completed the weekend sweep of Millikin and Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The record marks the team's best nine-game start since the 1989-90 season.

Trine will carry a six-game winning-streak into action next Wednesday, Dec. 30 when they host Manchester at 7 p.m. in Hershey Hall.
